Adiós España

It’s that time. Time to say adiós to Spain. And what an experience it’s been. Except for one thing. I still can’t pronounce that darn street I lived in. Well I can. But it’s just that no one’s ever heard of it!

I have met some really great people. Brits, Italians, Canadians, Americans, Irish, Russian, Dutch, French, etc, etc, and of course many Spanish people.

I had a day stop over in Madrid on the way out. There must have been a hundred thousand people jamming the streets last night. The pubs and cafes were overflowing. Despite it being freezing cold. I asked someone what was on. “Oh it’s Christmas. Happens every year”, she said. One thing is clear. Spanish clearly love celebrating life.

Acknowledgements and thank you to Menthu, Natalia, Josue, Sheila, Alicia, Alfonso and Serge for their contribution to this video.

But for now, sadly, it’s “adiós mis amigos en España.
And to you, thank you. I’m enjoying sharing my journey with you. May you have a very special and Merry Christmas.

  • Another great report from my roving reporter Chris the Hermit.
There seems to be one common thread in your photos Chris ” drinks”!! But that not a bad thing, as us Dragon Boaters would know.
Now get your timing right, plenty of twist and arms fully extended. No I’m not talking dragon boats just another night in a Spanish bar.
    Keep safe and travel well.
    Love Ang and Les

  • Hello Chris
I’ve enjoyed following your experiences in Valencia; I can see that it has been a very special time for you. Many of the things that people liked about living there, could be said of Australia too – good weather, friendly people, but I think they are better at celebrating life in a communal fashion. We have something to learn from them in that.
And now you are off to America (and a white Christmas?) – I hope you have a wonderful festive season to wind up your gap year.
Warm regards from your cousin, Heather
